I was born over 60 years ago, right here in Montana. My Dad was a master carpenter and cabinet maker, who taught me all I know about woodworking. I spent over 40 years working with wood, as a hobbyist, carpenter, cabinet maker, and independent remodeling contractor. You might say Ive got sawdust in my blood. (My wife says its in my socks).
In the last few years, a series of back problems and a broken bones landed me in a wheelchair and thinking I may never be able to do any woodworking again. But, thanks to the best darned orthopedic surgeon in Montana, I am back on my feet and back in the shop. I am no longer able to do any heavy work, but Im sure having fun designing and making my line of smaller items.
My favorite project, and most popular item is my line of walking canes. Being an old carpenter, I made my first cane in the shape of a hand saw. After that I made one shaped like an old western Colt 45 revolver. Now I have three different handgun designs and I have to carry extra canes in my car because people want to buy the one Im using out from under me.
Another item that is very popular is my line of decorative western boot jacks. Besides being a necessity for removing cowboy boots they are very useful for overweight and handicapped people, or anyone who has a problem bending over or removing their shoes. I currently have over a dozen silhouette designs, with many more to come.
